Success Stories

Top-tier bank develops remote image capture system
ahead of its time.

Challenge

Costly, inefficient centralized item processing hampered returns at a top-five bank. Client was an early adaptor of technology, eager to explore possibilities of utilizing image processing to improve efficiency (1998-1999).

Solution

  • Forte Financial led design and development of innovative solution enabling remote scanning of business deposits at branches, transmission of images across bank network, and centralized processing via character recognition and image deposit proof.

  • Process was ahead of its time and is being implemented in 2005, five years later.

Forte Financial Services

Forte Financial sized and scoped effort, prepared RFP, wrote functional and technical specifications, and managed efforts of four vendors plus ClientÕs internal IT group to build and test prototype system.

Reduce check processing unit cost by 30%.

Challenge

Mixed cash and check deposits were delivered by armored car directly to client's cash vault operations centers. Checks were stripped out and set aside for delivery to nearest proof of deposit location. Check batches from vaults were routinely the latest to arrive at POD (proof of deposit), causing a bottleneck just before processing cut off times.

Solution

  • Forte Financial together with business, operations, and technical teams, designed a combined currency verification and image-enabled check processing system for cash vault operations division, enabling consolidated processing of large wholesale deposits.

  • New operations design would have reduced check processing costs by 30%. Due to client's conflicting priorities and a pending merger, system was placed on hold at completion of the prototype phase.

Forte Financial Services

Forte Financial wrote business case, developed funding proposal, and prepared functional and technical requirements, capacity plan, budget, project plan, and unit cost analysis.

Change management skills facilitated cross-functional cooperation throughout client organization. Project management professionals coordinated relationship with multiple vendors in three countries.
